Formerly a member of an NGO that sought to aid disadvantaged women, it did not take much for Fouzia to see the importance in providing women with their own income. She started teaching a few girls in her community to sew soon after and eventually founded the co-op to start selling their creations. With the help of ASILA’s Caravan project, Fouzia’s leadership abilities were ignited, and she swiftly took the lead on understanding the resources and the rights afforded to her as a female entrepreneur. She has since been recognized by several different organizations for her work with the women in her community.
