Meet Naima
Fadl Tijhidwin
Founded in 2005
Craft: Weaving
Like many women in the more impoverished areas of Morocco, Naima was forced to drop out of school in 5th grade. However, even as a tenacious 10 year-old, Naima knew this wasn’t the path for her. She begged her family to let her work instead and eventually started learning the art of handicraft from her mother. Not content to stop there, Naima traveled beyond the confines of her community and went on to develop her own co-op. Unafraid of challenge, this entrepreneur has worked with several different designers in an effort to strike a balance between modern and traditional -- a skill she is currently teaching young girls like her, who never finished school.
